Vikings stole goods and kidnapped people to sell as slaves

 

Scandinavians who settled in Britain went to form communities in the East and North of England, and in Scotland

 

Grimsby and Scunthorpe are examples of Viking/Scandinavian settlements in England

 

Areas with a high population of Danes (Danish settlers) had laws that favoured them. These areas were called Danelaw

 

Scandinavian settlers switched from Norse paganism to Christianity over time

 

The Anglo-Saxon King, Alfred the Great was known as the king who defeated the Vikings

 

AD 925 King Athelstan was crowned the first King of England

 

AD 843 King Kenneth MacAlpin was crowned the first King of Scotland
